Dewey Wahl (Guitar, Vocals)

Back

ewey Wahl’s guitar style can be summed up in one word: distinctive. Regardless of the genre and occasion, his unique sound and impressive guitar licks are like no other and are admired by audiences and musicians alike. His versatility and ability to play any style thrown at him has earned him a place in countless successful bands over the years.

Dewey’s journey as a musician began at the age of 14 during which time George Harrison became an immediate inspiration to him during the emergence of The Beatles. This familiar story of inspiration grew with his passion to play and other musicians, such as Jeff Beck, Richie Blackmore, and Sonny Landreth, began to influence Dewey’s unique blend to form his own sound.

From there, he began to play in bands, including such popular groups such as Uncle Drew, Faith, Marty and The Mangos, Wahl Street, and of course, The Uptown Band, just to name  a few. His ability to learn any genre in a short period of time has made him invaluable on stage. In addition to his guitar, Dewey also brings versatile vocals, tasteful harmonica, and boundless energy that is quickly contagious to those enjoying the show.

While Dewey has played all over the nation, from Pennsylvania to Florida to Alaska, he considers his greatest musical achievement thus far to be able to play with some of the most talented musicians he’s known, The Uptown Band.

Dewey also enjoys writing/recording and photography in his studio, as he does both professionally and as passionate hobbies. He is a student of the New York Institute of Photography and has a camera in his hands when his guitar is at rest.

On a more personal note, his main goal in life, aside from playing as often as possible, is to spend more time with his family, his dog Heidi, and to continue to inspire those interested in picking up a guitar.
