mer was born and grew up in Honolulu, Hawaii.  It was here that he was raised by his family and went to school on the island, graduating from Kahuku High School in 1978.  After high school, he decided to move to the States, and graduated from Salt Lake City's Brigham Young University (BYU).  With a degree in hand, he then moved to New York City for two months, and it is there that he started his professional career as a drummer.

Omer has traveled throughout the country sharing the stage with famous acts such as The Four Tops, The Temptations, The Mama's and the Papa's, Marie Osmond, Toby Keith, Aaron Tippin, and Kenny Chesney.  He has also recently recorded tracks for Shania Twain, Michael Jackson, and Whitney Houston.

Over the years, Omer has played in many Reading-based groups as well including Bunchafunk, the Dave Stahl Sacred Orchestra/Jazz Big Band, the Bobby Mercer Road Show, and many more.  He has the ability to play any kind of music, whether it be Jazz to Rock, Country to Funk, or Swing to Rap.  His exciting drum solos excite every crowd, night in and night out. 

This past summer, Omer was the house drummer at "Harrah's Island Luau" Hawaiian Show in Atlantic City. Also, Omer G has a talent for naming bands, and can be given credit for naming The Uptown Band featuring Erich Cawalla and Jenifer Kinder!
